CATS

feline portraits painted in black and white acrylic

Boo Pica, 2015, (Dog Studies, Cats), acrylic on canvas, 10” x 12”, Elizabeth Lisa Petrulis.
Boo's face is hidden in the shadow made as she covers her head with her paw. An ear, a paw, a nose become decipherable from the blur of soft fur in this balance of recognizable cat with almost indistinguishable body parts.

CATS Though the portfolio is under the category of “Dog Studies” our cats demand, and deserve, attention. Furthering the departure from the theme of “Dog Studies” are the three paintings of Kitten Caboodle (Boo). The soft fur and the lack of high contrast distinguish them from most of the other paintings in the “Dog Studies” pack. Kitten Caboodle, a rare female orange tabby, appeared mysteriously two weeks after the death of our beloved Topper (also an orange tabby).
