On the Road, 2013
acrylic on canvas,
24” x 30”
One of the Original Dog Studies series first shown at Rose-Hulman in 2014.
At that time my focus was on shapes and the interplay of animal and the space around it – the positive and negative in art terms. This is the silhouetted shape of my barrel chested dog Doug on a dusty summer evening.
These works were done in a watercolor like style with just one color black layered on leaving the white of the canvas support for the light areas.
