Tail

Tail, a black and white high contrast black painting, featuring Mookie, his tail, and Dino, by Elizabeth Lisa Petrulis

Dog Studies, Tail, black acrylic on 12″ x 9″ paper, 2013, Elizabeth Lisa Petrulis (Private Collection)

Mookie’s luxurious tail is featured in near silhouette here. Dino lost his in an accident. (His Elizabethan collar shows up in paintings I’ll post later.)

Frightened and hurt Dino became lost in the woods and our search was unsuccessful. The next day, by instinct, we brought Mookie who led us to the injured Dino.

Lick

To lick was one of Sadie’s self appointed duties. Sadie took it upon herself to groom the other dogs, particularly in the ears.  Mookie loved ear cleanings. I enjoyed the visual counterpoint.

This composition is an example of my interest in positive/negative. How the placement of shapes of objects creates interesting shapes of the background and how these two elements interact.
